Clos La Gaffelière 2018
Clos La Gaffelière 2018, the second wine of the prestigious Premier Grand Cru Classé Château La Gaffelière, beautifully showcases the Saint-Émilion terroir in a remarkable Bordeaux vintage. Château La Gaffelière spans an exceptional 38-hectare vineyard, located on prime clay-limestone soils at the base of a slope in Saint-Émilion.
The Vineyard
The 2018 vintage at Château La Gaffelière was marked by heavy winter and spring rains, with significant mildew pressure up until early July. However, a warm, dry, and sunny summer followed, allowing for a successful harvest, which took place between September 20th and October 10th. The estate spans 38 hectares, including 22 hectares classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé, with clay foothill soils. The vineyard is planted with 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc.
