Merle de Péby Faugères Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2015
Péby Faugères, a standout red wine from the Vignobles Silvio Denz portfolio, was established in 1998 as a tribute to former owner Pierre-Bernard Guisez (nicknamed Péby). Made from the best Merlot plots on St.-Émilion’s clay-limestone slopes, the wine quickly gained recognition. The 2000 vintage, known as the “Legend of the Future,” earned a perfect 100/100 score from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate in 2005, solidifying its place among Bordeaux’s finest wines.
The Vineyard
The vineyard began transitioning to organic farming in 2017 and achieved Organic Agriculture certification with the 2020 vintage. Like the other Vignobles Silvio Denz properties, this St.-Émilion Grand Cru Classé adheres to strict quality standards, prioritizing excellence over yield.
Terroir
Château Péby Faugères spans 7.45 hectares on a single south-southeast-facing clay-limestone hillside. Benefiting from an exceptional geological profile and a favorable microclimate, thanks to the nearby river and cirque-shaped terrain, this unique terroir mirrors the southern slopes of St.-Émilion. The vineyard is carefully managed to highlight its natural qualities. With the 2020 vintage, Château Péby Faugères reinforced its dedication to sustainability, achieving both Organic Agriculture and HEV Level 3 certification.
